Description
This listing is for the exact 1980s vintage Hasbro Jem & The Holograms "GLITTER 'N GOLD ROCKIN' ROADSTER" car shown in the photos. It's quite rare and hard to find, and I'm excited to be able to offer this one from my own childhood collection! Please note that this car is not in perfect condition and is being sold "as-is" -- I'll do my best to describe its issues, but please look at the photos for reference and ask questions BEFORE you buy. I apologize but I'm not able to take any additional photos, as the car is already packed in its box to go to its new home. So, to start: the RADIO in the trunk works beautifully! Both knobs turn easily, the volume adjusts (and can be turned up quite loud!), sound from the speakers is very clear, and there is no corrosion in the battery compartment. The battery cover lid IS there; I slid it up for the photo, but it's there and functional. I bought a brand-new 9 volt battery just to test the radio, and I'm including the battery with the car, so you won't have to buy one to have the radio working. I don't know if the audio output jack still works, but the radio itself and onboard speakers work very well.
There are a few parts missing that I found: mainly the hood ornament, but also if there were originally plastic lenses in the tail lights the lenses are not there now.
The ROOF is included and attaches firmly to the car; there are some black markings on the roof that look like rubs acquired during storage -- I didn't try to remove them at all, since I didn't want to risk damage to the plastic. Please see the photos for exact roof appearance. The HOOD opens and latches securely and there is storage space inside the hood compartment.
The car rolls smoothly without any issues. The windshield mountings are cracked at the bases where they attach to the "doors" but this doesn't affect the car's structural integrity. The only other wear and tear to the car that I've found is cosmetic; the "gold chrome" finish on the car, particularly on the front end, shows some tarnish-like damage. The shiny finish is NOT cracked or missing anywhere that I can find. Please look at the photos for condition reference. Also, there's some dust from storage in the nooks and crannies of the car; I cleaned it up a bit with a damp cloth, but it could use more detailing.
The car has been stored away from light, moisture, and pets in my smoke-free home since my childhood. It has been in a climate-controlled environment constantly and has never been stored outside of my childhood bedroom.
Shipping will be by USPS Priority Mail in a very sturdy cardboard box with a LOT of bubble wrap and air-pocket padding. The roof is wrapped separately from the car to keep it safe on the journey. I apologize for the shipping cost; it's because the package is so long that the shipping cost is high. I do NOT charge extra for shipping beyond Ebay's calculated postage from my location to yours.
Thank you so much for looking, and have a "Truly Outrageous" day!
